Award Programs
The Morgan Horse Club of Washington State sponsors two High Point Award programs annually: the MHCWS High Point Awards for competing in Morgan classes, or working, sport horse or competitive trail disciplines, and the Open High Point Awards for competing in classes open to all breeds. Trophies and ribbons are awarded, and public recognition of the winners and runner-ups is announced at the Club’s Annual Meeting and Awards Banquet held in November.
A current-year membership in the Club is required to be eligible to participate in these programs. The club membership period is January 1 through December 31. You must be a member of MHCWS before the first day of the event to be eligible for a high point award. Only if you joined as an individual are you eligible. If you joined as a general member, then each immediate household member is eligible.
Required information must be submitted on an official form or duplicate thereof to be eligible. Persons submitting forms are responsible for their completeness and accuracy. Points might not be awarded if the submittals contain incomplete and/or incorrect information.
MHCWS High Point Award Program
This program was developed in 1980. Winners earn the honor of having their name engraved on a perpetual plaque, which they may keep and display until the following year. Horses owned or leased by club members earn points from placing in Morgan classes in horse shows; placing in Morgan and/or open competitive trail rides; Morgan Sport Horse and/or open Sport Horse events (see specs for Sport Horse), USDF recognized dressage events, and Morgan or open working events, (see specs for Working Morgan) wherever they are held. A club member who is part of a syndicate or partnership or a horse shareholder is also eligible to participate in this program (proof of ownership or lease required). Placings must be sent to the High Point Secretary within 30 days following the close of the competition, or they are forfeited. Note: Placings from the Grand National Horse Show and competitive trail rides, sport horses, or dressage events held in October must be received by October 31st.
